Steve is Taranaki born and bred, with an electrical trade background worked throughout the North Island on various construction projects before returning Taranaki to work in the Oil and gas sector. Starting a family Sheetmetal and Heating business in 1991 Steve eventually bought out the business, which is now known as Rivet Fabrication and Rivet Engineering.
Steve is passionate about developing Taranaki businesses and developing our people for the betterment of our community. He has served on the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce Board for four terms where he believes he offered a “hands on trades” perspective to the Board. While on the board of Chamber he instigated the “Network of Trades (NOT’s)” for trade based business owners to network and support each other.
Mark is deputy chairman of Taranaki Futures. Mark also chairs the Taranaki Secondary Principals Association and is principal of Spotswood College.
Martin is the general manager Lower North Island for Tegel Foods Ltd. His background includes human resource management. Martin has been involved with the initial work Taranaki Futures undertook with the employer forums late 2014 and is keen to offer his expertise, experiences and forward thinking approach as a trustee of Taranaki Futures.
Michael is a Director of Clelands Construction, Taranaki’s largest construction company. His key operational responsibilities include commercial management, administration oversight, human relations, marketing and project management. Previously, Michael was a member of the senior management team at Energyworks and was responsible for the construction management of significant pipeline projects in Taranaki and Auckland.
Will affiliates to the Taranaki, Ngāruahine, Tāngahoe, Pakakohi and Ngāti Ruanui people of Taranaki. He has spent most of his adult life in the university sector as a student, academic and researcher. In October 2014 Will was elected onto Te Korowai o Ngāruahine Trust, the post-settlement governance entity for Ngāruahine iwi. He is currently director of Taumata Associates.
Barbara is the chief executive of the Western Institute of Technology Taranaki (WITT). Barbara was formerly chief executive of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. She is a graduate of Victoria University and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and a Masters of Business Administration. Barbara is from Taranaki and is Ngāti Rāhiri.
Blake works as a real estate salesperson for TSB Realty and volunteers at the Westown Hospice shop. Using his spare time aged 13 – 16, Blake would design websites to sell online services to businesses worldwide, purchase and resell trending products from China through TradeMe, promote discounted hotels and travel packages through his website ihotelsworld.com.
Having transitioned immediately into real estate from his high schooling education at Francis Douglas Memorial College, Blake has a relevant understanding of the students Taranaki Futures are trying to impact.
Blake is passionate about showcasing other employment opportunities available to students in our region.
Cheree is the owner and of Feats, which has campuses in New Plymouth, Stratford and Hawera. Cheree is also the chairperson for the Taranaki Tertiary Providers.
Lisa is the Regional Manager Taranaki for TSB Bank. She has spent her professional career in leadership, including 10 years in executive positions contributing to the growth and success of a number of NZ sales organisations and financial institutions. Lisa has a lifelong passion for coaching conversations that help others find their most rewarding professional lives. She believes positive change comes from strong collaboration.
Andy Watt is the General Manager Sales & Marketing TIL Freight, one of New Zealand’s Largest Privately Owned Transport and Logistics Companies (and the only one with it’s head office based in New Plymouth). Andy is excited to represent the Transport industry and a large local employer through Taranaki Futures. Andy has been involved in Taranaki Futures since the start as a sponsor and has been really impressed at the outcomes & continued opportunities the trust creates.
Andy’s role allows him to interact with many different business segments and sizes all over New Zealand.
Having a young family (1 aged 17 & 1 aged 3) he has personal experience in the challenging dynamics faced by parents and young adults considering the transition from School ~ Work or further education.
